Freedom day 2021

2021 has been tough for many people. On Freedom Day, we went all out to bring a sense of community even in the pandemic situation.
From early in the morning, Vula Ma Thuba's team of volunteers were making preparations.
During the day, we served meals to children and adults - at different community kitchens and with distancing measures in place. We also had some light entertainment that included a marching band.
Freedom day 2021 marked 27 years since the first democratic elections in South Africa. In Mitchells Plain, this was our way to pause to remember this day and to celebrate the spirit of activism that is in our community today.
